Get involved with a race team

FAST has both a kids and adult team!

The kids team was put together with the goal to introduce kids to racing and fill the queue for Arkansas racing through the teen and 20s ages. We aim to get all kids ages 7 to 14 riding but the focus of this group is for the kids to become strong, confident riders… and have a great time doing it!  We have about 25 kids that show up regularly and that number continues to grow as more people find out what we do. We try to have a ride each week – usually at the Bentonville Slaughter Pen trail.  While this is a competitive team competing in the Arkansas Mountain Bike Series, racing is not required to be a part of the team. Each week’s ride generally lasts an hour and a half with some medium to fast paced trail riding and then some time built on skills (ride skills, training skills, mechanical, etc).  We’ll ride the trail with a few different “pace groups” and then talk about some aspect of cycling or racing (safety, courtesy, passing, bike maintenance, etc). We have a great group of kids and the rides are the highlight of the week… at least for me!

The FAST Adult Race Team was revived a couple years ago with the goal of being an inclusive, fun, and encouraging team environment where we could challenge ourselves and each other to race our best. Our greatest aim is to have a blast while racing whether we come in first, dead last, or somewhere in between. We all found a lot of great friendships were built through the comradery of the racing season that have extended into the off-season and beyond.
