FAST Leadership

FAST Board of Directors

At Friends of Arkansas Singletrack (FAST), we are fortunate to have a dedicated and passionate group of board members who are committed to our mission of promoting and preserving mountain biking trails in Arkansas.

Josh Deen
President
president@fasttrails.org

A Chicago native and former Dallas resident, Josh made NWA home in 2023. With a career as both an educator and IT Consultant, he is also passionate about trail maintenance and advocacy. His goal is to not only create a welcoming environment for all cyclists but also ensure that our membership is just as passionate about caring for our trails.

Marcus Wirsig
Vice President
vp@fasttrails.org

After more than 20 years as a project manager and senior level program and portfolio manager, Marcus took a step back from the corporate world last year. He currently works with ARI and is excited to bring his professional leadership experience to bear with FAST.

Jeff Miller
Secretary

Jeff brings more than 30 years of varied experience—from non-profit founder and city council member to for-profit business operations manager—to the table in service of FAST. He is also a local trail adopter and an ambassador for mountain bikers of all ability levels.

Ginny Brady
Treasurer

With more than a decade of non-profit management experience in addition to her background in law, Ginny moved to NWA in 2019 to work for the Amazeum and fell in love with mountain biking. She now works in the trail industry, coaches for WOZ and is passionate about opening doors for people of all abilities to enjoy mountain biking.

Shannon Karner
Events Director
events@fasttrails.org

Shannon received her Professional Event Planner Certification in 2005 and has over 20 years of combined experience in office management, program development, and event planning. She enjoys coordinating events that help build morale. You may know her as the person who brings rice krispie treats to weekly rides and acts as our group photographer, posting photos on Facebook. After assisting in the hospitality role on the FAST Board in 2024, she hopes to use her experience to plan a variety of fun and engaging events for the FAST community in her role as Events Director.

Ira Weiny
Member-At-Large
at-large-a@fasttrails.org

Ira and his wife Lorrie have been avid bikers since meeting in 1996. After moving to NWA in 2024 for the mountain biking, Ira has recognized how blessed we are to have the trails we do. More importantly we have a community of bikers who care about the trails. Ira brings technical knowledge, a desire to do trail work, as well as a desire to increase the skill level of newer riders so more of the community can enjoy the unique opportunities we have here.

Scott Silvey
Member-At-Large
at-large-b@fasttrails.org

Scott is an Ozarks native, growing up in southern MO and northern AR. He has 30 years of healthcare management and clinical experience, currently serving as VP of Operations for a nationally recognized PT partnership and management group. Scott helped start & lead FAST’s EZ Riders group in 2024-25 and he’s an OZ Patrol member covering races and events across the state. The Patrol’s mission to serve, safeguard, and engage is his passion with MTB in NWA.

Brian Young
Trail Maintenance Director
trails@fasttrails.org

Brian worked in mechanical engineering design and product testing, creating products for various industries. While living and racing mountain bikes in Oklahoma he discovered NWA as the trail scene was exploding. Moving to Bella Vista in 2022, he has enjoyed the smaller community and the local bike scene. When Northwest Arkansas Community College announced the Trails Technician School, he entered to learn how to run the machines and gain more comprehensive trail knowledge. Brian will apply his knowledge, experience, and creativity to support maintenance of trails.

Kelly Williams
OZ Patrol Coordinator

Kelly hails from CO, and is one of the OG’s of the local MTB community. He’s one of the original NWA mountain bikers, an original FAST member, and started the OZ Patrol in 2016. He was an avid and podium level XC racer not too long ago. Kelly has lived in AR since 1999, and called Bella Vista home since 2005. Now fully retired, Kelly is on the trails about every day but stays busy leading OZ Patrol and attending almost every FAST and NWA cycling event. He’s our resident local legend, maintains the much-loved Modelo Loop, and keeps our Oz Patrol up and running.

FAST Coordinators

Nettie Croy
Events Coordinator

With more than 13 years of experience planning team events, Nettie brings her “extreme hospitality” mantra to everything she does. She fell in love with Northwest Arkansas and its incredible trails and is excited to work with the events committee to create welcoming, memorable experiences that support the club’s mission and connect people to this amazing place.

Mike Nelson
Volunteer Coordinator

Mike and his wife are originally from the Dallas\Ft. Worth area and moved to Bella Vista in August 2024. Mike’s been riding for about 5 years and enjoys working to get better with technical trails, climbing, and jumps and drops. He has recently started running sweep on the FAST D and EZ rides, and loves to help out whenever possible. Mike has worked in IT/Technical Support for most of his career.  He feels extremely blessed to live in NW Arkansas and ready to put his gift for service to work being our Volunteer Coordinator.
